Haven on the island

As a Singaporean, I have some places where is see as the havens on the island. I love going to this places during my recreation time. Here are some of them that I feel that are worth your visit.

If you want to enjoy the wind in your hair, you may want to go for go-kart races as Kart World. You may enjoy zooming through the racing tracks, competing with other racers. I like screaming while speeding through the tracks, it adds a kick to it. If you are going as a group, it would be fun to organize a group race and of course it would be cheaper individually.

You'll like a F1 racer!

This is a video of a racer practicing and having fun there

If you are like me, love the arts and nature, I highly encourage you to walk through the Marang Trail towards the summit of the Singapore’s second highest peak, Mount Faber. Through the walk, you will be able to see bungalows that houses local artists. You will also be able to catch a glimps of nature's decoration like the angsana tree and the bottle brush tree. I feel that it would be better if you are able to request for a nature guide at the visitor centre in case you go  for a wrong turn and it'll be great if you get explaination

Ensure that you bring sufficient water and wear proper walking shoes. Through the route, I only saw less than 10 benches it'll be good if they add more. And parents with childrens should also pace themselves for the walk or you might have the carry child halfway up the summit.

Its a great workout and it is also a great way to spend time with you family here. At the end of the trail, you will arrive at Jewel box - The summit of mount faber. Here you will be able to find eateries and bars and will also be able to board on a cable car to the Sentosa Island. It would be a great idea if you walk the trail before moving on to sentosa for your adventure in singapore.

For more information, you may want to print out the guide. Click here for the guide: http://www.nparks.gov.sg/cms/docs/southern_ridges/SR_Marang_Trail.pdf

You will be able to find your way to the trail after exit from HabourFront MRT Station

This is the place for everyone. If you love seafood, especially fresh prawns, this is the place for YOU! You can enjoy Australian Flora like Grass trees and bottle trees. There are also many recreational facilities there just for you. And you can enjoy them, all in the palm of mother nature.

For couples, you may want to try the swan ride, where couple can paddle the swan shape craft through the lake under the shining moon. Isn’t that romantic?

Long kang (Drain) fishing is a very popular activities in the late 1960 and1970s. As the saying goes “When in Rome, do as the Romans do”. Thus, it would be great for you to experience the olden Singapore activities. In the small pond, you will be able to catch small colourful fishes using little green nets. It is a great family bonding too. I feel that there are actually limited types of fish and it would be better if there are more colours and varieties. But for the current price, it is still value for money

Prawning is the latest craze and if I enjoy it, you will. You can try fishing for prawns and then grilling is fresh from the rod immediately. The grilled fresh prawn is springy to the teeth with the sweetness of the sea swirling in your mouth.

I encourage you to visit this place in the late afternoon between 4 -5. You may try the Long-Kang Fishing and Prawning first. After that, you may want to go for the eateries to have a taste of local seafood.

I encourage you to go for the set menu at Bottle Tree Park Seafood restaurant.. I highly recommend the seafood mini steamboat where you can taste the sweetness of the seafood, with the layered texture of the ingredients. You may also try the tea leaf smoked sea garoupa , where the natural sweetness of the fish is brought out by the tea leaf.

If you would prefer Japanese cuisine, do not miss Botoru ki Japanese Restaurant & Bar. It serves great and fresh Japanese seafood like sashimi, crab steamboat etc. There is nothing else to expect except the best.

If you do not want to just sit at the table for dinner, you may want to request for a barbeque there. You may check out the menu Here and email you choices to the email provided .
